Almost 7 Weeks Already?

May 24, 2011

This inspection was done on May 18th

The weather has not been cooperative for inspections lately.  I had a short window of clear weather but it was late in the evening before i could get up and look at how things were progressing. The bees have been busy up in the second box and i saw a few frames with fresh eggs and although i didn't spot the queen she did show up in a photo on the middle frame of the top box.

[slideshow] I am wondering what this is though.  Could this possibly be a queen cup? The top box seems to be doing well and the bottom box still has the frames on the outside that haven't even been touched.  Also the frames with the brood near the center  that don't contain brood or eggs  seem to be getting filled with nectar. Here are some pics of the bottom box frames.
